Hi Harry, I think 'home-scholing' is a great idea especially for our country where basic education is still not available for every school-aged children, illiteracy is still high and child-labor is rampant. I support you 100% to figure out ways to make this non-formal education a reality for all Indonesians for that matter. I'm sure there are plenty adults also who are not able to read and write. Community-based or family-based approach is the way to go when it comes to taking responsibilities for our own good and future. But how? it's a huge task...I'm glad that there are a few activists already and the SekolahRakyat.org etc. That's a good start, but how is 'home-schooling' monitored? DepDikBud needs to help big time with curriculum to certain degree, but what about corruption of money, ideas, philosophy etc.? how is the system going to work to avoid 'irresponsible' or 'ignorant' adults in teaching minors what's not 'good' for them? What are the standard? Who gets to decide? I'm just throwing concerns here...I'm hopeful that there's always a way to make it worthwhile...so I hope that you'll go on with this, and I'd like to follow up with this wonderful idea. Teaching independence is a way to go for our future...wouldn't it be wonderful in Indonesia where Indonesians become critical thinkers, activists and know how to stand on their own identity...Indonesians with good self-esteem, confident and ethics :-) Wouldn't it be a wonderful goal? I wish you the best of luck...please write more posts about activism like this...Thanks Harry.
