Sierra AirCard 880 @ Hardy (Ubuntu Linux 8.04)

Just to share that I’ve got this HSDPA / 3.5G, and it works straight away with Ubuntu 8.04 (hardy). No problem whatsoever. Feel free to buy this too.

From what I’ve heard, it seems that the entire Sierra AirCard 8xx is the same (881, 875, etc)

This is nice, now I can browse up to 7.2 Mbps from my laptop wirelessly.
I’m subscribed with IndosatM2’s service. Since I mostly use SSH, I have a feeling that most of the time I won’t go over my 700 MB monthly bandwidth quota, heh. At this speed, using SSH over the Internet feels about as fast as accessing servers in my office’s LAN. Good stuff.

    Ke http://rimbalinux.com stabil di 97 ms, http://groups.or.id sekitar 340 ms, http://indo.net.id sekitar 330 ms, http://cbn.net.id sekitar 350 ms, http://sealindo.com sekitar 200 ms, http://www.ragnarok.co.id stabil di 88 ms.
    .

    .
    Moga membantu.

Wuih gampang banget. Tinggal nunggu CD Hardy dan beli modemnya nih.

    Thanx om.

I have the ATT 881U Aircard and just booted Hardy live CD and yet to figure out how to set it up, other than looking through all the manual patch stuff on the Sierra Wireless web site.

So how do I set it up? ATT does not provide password for GPRS account. On the MAC I did not have to know the password, but it appears to have been entered during driver install on the MAC.

    Thanks,

Hi Keith, you definitely need the password. Perhaps ATT customer service can help you with that.
    .
I got similar problem, I entered the wrong username. 880 won’t connect, what ever hack I implemented.
Once I realized my mistake (I just missed a single period!), it works flawlessly.
    .
Once you got the password, you set it up as if it’s a modem, port /dev/ttyUSB0, that’s it.
    .
    Hope it helps.

@Rosyidi - pakai HP kita sendiri saja :) kalau HP nya sudah mendukung HSDPA, bisa langsung konek.
    .
Jadi jelas perlu akses HSDPA (bukan sekedar GPRS).
